Reliable, wired, and wireless access to the University network and the Internet.

• 菠菜网lol正规平台_Premier
  • A secure network for Students, Faculty and Staff that provides encrypted connectivity for wireless users who have a 菠菜网lol正规平台One ID#.
• EDUROAM
  • Technology that allows many higher education groups to use the local resources when traveling from 菠菜网lol正规平台’s campus.
  • Students, faculty, and staff can connect to hundreds of secure networks across the world using their 菠菜网lol正规平台 login with eduroam. Eduroam is an international roaming service that has thousands of participating universities, libraries, and other learning institutions. There are over 2,000 available eduroam networks across the United States, including at least one in every major city with many throughout the SF Bay Area and California. • 菠菜网lol正规平台_Guest
  • This is an open, unencrypted wireless network for campus visitors.
• 菠菜网lol正规平台_MyDevices
  • Technology for Students, Faculty and Staff using network-enabled devices (such as gaming consoles, Apple TV, etc.) that do not support WPA2 security.

We also offer Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services for all divisions. The service is hosted on the Infoblox appliance, is fully redundant, and can be administered centrally by Network Services or remotely by department-based IT support personnel.

Cost

Internet and network access is free for Students, Faculty and Staff.

Timing

Wiring requests typically take at least two business days to complete for activation of existing jacks, or longer if new wiring is needed.

Requirements

• Computer equipment with appropriate network interface card (Ethernet)
• Devices with compatible wireless network adapters are required for Wi-Fi access
• 菠菜网lol正规平台 prohibits the connection of customer-provided switches, hubs or routers to the campus network
• 802.11b is no longer supported

• Is the wireless network different than the wired network?

  • The wireless network is a separate network from the wired network. The four Wireless networks described above have different levels of access. On 菠菜网lol正规平台-premier, access is similar to wired. On all the others, in order to reach campus resources you have to connect through the Internet just like you would using your own ISP.

• What devices are supported on 菠菜网lol正规平台 Wi-Fi?

  • All systems and devices that have Wi-Fi functionality should work.

• What wireless NICs are supported on the wireless network?

  • All typical wireless cards which support 802.11 a/g/n/ac will be supported on the network. The 802.11b protocol is not supported.

• Can I sign in with more than one Wi-Fi enabled device at a time, such as my laptop and phone?

  • Yes, you can.

• How do I connect to the wireless network?

  • Open your device's wireless configuration application and search for the name of the 菠菜网lol正规平台 network you want to connect to. For the network "菠菜网lol正规平台_premier", use your 菠菜网lol正规平台One ID credentials to log in. For eduroam, use your 菠菜网lol正规平台 email address rather than your 菠菜网lol正规平台 ID number. • How do I print from the wireless network?

  • Wireless printing is no longer available. You will need to print to a printer with a wired connection to the LAN.

• Do I need to log off Wi-Fi when I am finished using my wireless connection?

  • No, the wi-fi system does not require a logout.

     

• Can I use the Wireless network off-campus or at home?

  • The wireless network is strictly for the main campus and south campus. There are no plans to offer university sponsored network access to any other locations.

     

• What are guest accounts?

  • Guest accounts allow visiting faculty, staff, campus vendors and library vendors, who do not have an 菠菜网lol正规平台One account, to login to the wireless network.If you do not have an 菠菜网lol正规平台One account or otherwise cannot connect to 菠菜网lol正规平台 Premier, you can self-register for a one-week 菠菜网lol正规平台 Guest Wi-Fi account.

• Why does my wireless signal come and go?

  • This could be related to your location or the quality of your wireless device.

     

• Why does wireless work in some areas, but not in others?

  • Wireless is not available in every area on campus. Some areas are more electronically congested than others.

     

• Who do I call for technical support?

  • If you are able to see the spalsh login page when you open your browser, but cannot login, you may be experiencing a problem with your 菠菜网lol正规平台One or guest account. For problems with either accounts, please contact the IT Service Desk at 408-924-1530 or itservicedesk@bedroomforrent.com.

    If you are unable to see the login splash page or you see "The page cannot be displayed" error message when you open your browser, you may be experiencing a problem accessing the wireless network.
